No. 3: Kristof Wines
Journalist Nicholas Kristof and his wife Sheryl WuDunn, a business executive, planted eight acres of cider apples and 15 acres of pinot noir and chardonnay vines on the family farm in 2019 and 2020. Their wines are “fruity yet smooth and sophisticated,” according to one reader. Another person said they love the chardonnay, calling it the “the most balanced, crisp and bright” chardonnay they have ever tasted. That reader also said, “The rosé is simply delicious — summer in a glass!”

No. 2: Willamette Valley Vineyards
Located just east of Interstate 5 a few miles south of Salem in Turner, this might be
the most visible winery in Oregon
. “We love Willamette Valley Vineyards. When I’m here, I feel like I’m in Tuscany again. Highly recommend doing the estate tour. Great wine and great vibes,” said one reader. “I love how fresh and uncomplicated but distinctly Oregon the wines are, especially the 2023 Estate Pinot and the Estate Chardonnay,” another reader told us.

Airen Vandevoort/Durant Vineyards
No. 1: Durant Vineyards
Located in the Dundee Hills AVA,
Durant
is our readers’ top pick. They love the wine, the views of Mount Hood and Mount Jefferson, and so much more. “Durant at Red Ridge Farm is NOT just a winery. It’s an experience of beautiful views, a lovely farm shop, nursery with workshops and events,
olive trees
, lavender fields, vineyards of different blocks of vines to walk through and enjoy a wonderful PNW Oregon day. You haven’t even experienced the tasting room yet.
