YOUNG KINGMAN, Ariz. The dog that found and saved a lost child in the wilds of Arizona is getting a treat for being so good.
They saw each other again on Monday afternoon, the first time since Boden Allen, 2, was saved last week.
Bones’ dad, Cody Allen, said, “It’s a story of faith on my side.”
Around 4 p.m. on April 14, Boden got lost from his home in Seligman. By evening, the boy had not been seen, and search teams had gone all over the remote area near I-40.
Allen said, “He was going on a journey that we never thought was possible.” “Just rough ground with trees and rocks all over.” It’s simple to hide.
The little girl walked for seven miles, getting lucky and not getting hurt badly along the way.
“He could have fallen and hurt himself,” John Harris, manager of the Yavapai County Search and Rescue Team 4×4, said. “We saw a lot of coyotes.”
For sixteen hours, the Yavapai County Search and Rescue Team looked for Boden on foot, in 4x4s, and in the air, in both light and dark.
Harr said, “That young man is very lucky.”
Boden was lucky that someone was watching out for him.
Allen said, “I can see how he stayed warm all night.”
The Anatolian Pyrenees, Buford, found the boy sleeping under a tree and led him to his home at the Dunton Ranch.
Scotty Dunton, Buford’s owner, said he checked the tracks a few hours after the rescue.
“He walked the whole way for sure.” It was crazy. He had Buford with him for a mile. “I got lost in the rocks, but he was with him for at least a mile from my house,” Dunton said.
Since Buford was saved a week ago, gifts have been sent to the Dunton home. Dunton said that people from all over the world have been in touch.
Dunton said, “Toys, chew toys, snacks, you name it, a little bit of everything.”
This good boy is still going to get his treats.
The Yavapai County Search and Rescue Team made Buford an honoured member and gave him a vest to show it.
“When a search is successful, it’s very rewarding for our members,” Harris said. “People aren’t really focused on who found him.” “In the end, they’re just glad they were found.”
It’s all good again for the Allen family.
“He’s always moving around and exploring,” Allen said.
They will always remember the country dog that came and saved their son.
Allen said, “I just saw a miracle, and I will never forget it.”
