A man convicted of
shooting a woman in the back without warning
on Mother’s Day three years ago was sentenced to life in state prison with the chance of parole after 25 years.

held on the Eastbank Esplanade beneath Interstate 5 on May 8, 2022. He shot her in the back of the neck
without warning
, fled by foot and then doubled back to make sure she was dead, prosecutors said.
