Hopatcong’s businesses have been badly impacted by sinkhole difficulties on Interstate 80, and elected leaders are requesting that Governor Phil Murphy include the town in the New Jersey Economic Development Authority’s Grant Program.
As of right now, the only businesses that are eligible to apply for the financial aid are those that are located within a radius of five miles in Morris County. This is because the continuous construction on the interstate is causing businesses to lose customers and money.
On the other hand, three elected officials whose jurisdiction encompasses Hopatcong have requested that the governor also include Sussex County in the process of applying for grants.
The town of Hopatcong is located within the five-mile radius, and the elected leaders claim that the owners of the businesses in the area are also badly impacted.
It was dated April 14th when the letter was sent to the governor.
As at this moment, the governor has not yet provided any kind of comment.
