Houston Man Crashes SUV at 100 MPH, Flees Scene, Leaving Injured Family Behind

Houston police are looking for a man who wrecked his automobile into a ditch at 100 mph and fled the scene, leaving behind an injured family.

The father was driving with his wife and four children when their SUV collided with a pickup truck, according to local media. According to HPD, surveillance footage shows the man’s Ford Expedition driving down Yale Street when what looks to be a Chevy Avalanche truck turns in front of it, cutting it off.

The crash forced the Expedition to flip into the ditch, with the family inside.

Investigators suspect the SUV was traveling at roughly 100 mph when the accident occurred.

FOX 26 stated that an 8-year-old child was thrown out of the vehicle.

Police said the other children resembled toddlers.

Although the pickup’s occupants were not injured, the SUV driver’s family has been hospitalized, with two in serious condition and three in critical condition.

According to HPD, the Expedition’s driver fled the scene of the accident and was picked up by another car.

“I don’t know what was going through his thoughts at the time. I’m not sure if he felt compelled to run for other reasons,” Capt. Ryan Watson told KTRK.

“The investigators here are following down leads and they are going to track that down and see if they can talk to him and get some answers, find out what’s going on.”

Authorities said they’re still seeking for the Expedition’s driver.
