Is Iowa Drunk? Report Lists 6 of America’s Drunkest Cities in the Hawkeye Stat

Is Iowa Drunk Report Lists 6 of America’s Drunkest Cities in the Hawkeye Stat

Everyone in Iowa knows that the Busch Light flag is the other state flag. Okay, enough with the jokes. A new study says it has found the 50 craziest places in America for drunk people.

Plus, SIX of the states in Iowa made the list.

This isn’t something to be happy about; it’s something to be worried about, even though the list isn’t very strong in some ways.

The most drunk cities in Iowa

This list comes from 247wallst.com, which found the 50 drowsiest towns in the U.S. (we’ll talk about their rules in a bit).

Six in Iowa were chosen as the most drunk. With 12, Wisconsin had the most on the list.

Iowa was still number two on the list, even though it was a very far second.

These are the six places that made our list:

  • Ames at #41
  • Waterloo/Cedar Falls at #39
  • Des Moines, one spot down at #38
  • Iowa City at #30
  • Cedar Rapids at #23
  • Dubuque at #7

Yes, every city in Iowa except Des Moines and Ames is in eastern Iowa. Oh no.

Shady Metrics?

The site looked at people who said they had binged or heavily drunk in the past 30 days across all metro areas in the country from the County Health Rankings & Roadmaps to find the most drunk cities.

It’s not that the list is completely wrong and flawed; it’s just that using just one source doesn’t give the whole picture.

Is Iowa a Bad Place to Drink?

Hearing health officials talk about alcohol abuse in public service announcements, or PSAs, on any of our radio stations is a given. That’s right, we do.

In fact, another study from 24/7wallst found that Iowa had the fourth most people who drank too much.

Not a good look. We might want to put down the bottle or can more often. Just something to think about.

You could always go to this Iowa house when you want to drink something adult.
