“Jeopardy Masters”
2025. In Tuesday’s pair of quarterfinal games, the first saw a match-up between what were the three current leaders, Victoria Groce, Vancouver’s
Yogesh Raut
, and Isaac Hirsch.
Groce won last year’s “Jeopardy Masters,” and Raut finished second. The players are competing for a $500,000 grand prize.
Tuesday’s first game saw all three players showing off their smarts, but Groce was strong, so strong that even after she lost everything with an incorrect “Double Jeopardy” guess, she bounced back to finish in the lead when it came time for “Final Jeopardy.”
The “Final Jeopardy” category was 20th Century Fiction. The clue: “The title of this 1959 work refers to a record given to graduating seniors at Ohio State University.”
Groce was in first place, with 16,000 points; Raut was in second, with 7,400 points; and Hirsch was third, with 6,600 points.
Hirsch wrote an incomplete and incorrect guess, with “What is The Best Years of Our Li….” He bet 1,000, leaving him with a total of 5,600.
Raut wrote, “What is ‘Goodbye, Columbus?’” the correct answer, and the title of Phillip Roth’s novel. Raut wagered 5,801, raising his total to 13,201. But Groce also had the correct response. Though she wagered 0, she finished with 16,000, enough to earn her another victory.
The second game of the quarterfinals featured Matt Amodio, Roger Craig, and Juveria Zaheer. When it came time for “Final Jeopardy,” Craig was in minus territory, so he couldn’t participate.

The “Final Jeopardy” category was British History. The clue: “When New Amsterdam was taken by the British, he was on the throne of England, but the city was renamed for his brother.”
Oddly, both Amodio and Zaheer initially wrote, “Who was James?”, then crossed out James and wrote the correct name, Charles II.
Amodio, who entered the round in second place, with 8,800 points, wagered 2,000, leaving him with a total of 10,800. Zaheer entered the round in the lead, with 9,000 points. She bet a whopping 8,601 points, boosting her to a 17,601 total, and the victory.
The end of Tuesday’s quarterfinals saw Groce in the top spot on the leaderboard, followed by Raut, Zaheer and Hirsch. Amodio and Craig were both eliminated.
Wednesday’s episode begins the semifinals, and the first game once again features Groce and Raut, joined this time by Zaheer. The players in the second game will depend on the outcome of that first match-up.
