John Calipari: “I think I have the best staff in the country”

Kentucky assistant coach Joel Justus was named a top 40 college basketball coach under the age of 40 by ESPN Wednesday.

Justus, 38 years old, checks in at No. 25 on the list of coaches. The list is comprised of head coaches and assistant coaches in college basketball.

ESPN college basketball writers Myron Medcalf, Jeff Borzello, and John Gasaway ranked the candidates. Coaches had to be less than 40 years old as of April 30. 2020.

Kentucky coach John Calipari commented on the recognition Justus received by ESPN.

“I think I have the best staff in the country,” Calipari said. “Joel is one of the brightest and hardest working coaches in our game and has really come into his own. Kenny and Tony are both regularly mentioned as head coaches elsewhere. All three could be leading their own program, including this one.”
