Washington Wizards guard John Wall is continuing to help those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wall previously donated N95 masks and meals to the healthcare workers at D.C. and North Carolina hospitals in honor of his late mother, Frances Pulley, who passed away last December. The donations were for health care workers at the hospitals that cared for her.

The former Kentucky Wildcat shifted his focus to help those in need around the Washington D.C. area. The John Wall Family Foundation launched the “202 Assist” program to provide rent assistance do D.C.’s Ward 8 residents.

The program is a four-week rent-relief fundraiser set to begin on May 22 to raise a goal of $300,000. Ward 8 is an area of D.C. that significantly felt the impact of COVID-19.

D.C. has been my second home for 10 years now, and I have always had a strong connection to the community,” Wall said. “After learning how COVID-19 has affected the residents of Ward 8, I felt that I needed to act, which is why I have partnered with the city. I hope that others will join me to help those in need during these uncertain times.”
