Jon Sumrall Sends Thank You Message to Big Blue Nation

UK Athletics

UK linebackers coach Jon Sumrall will be the next head coach at Troy. He accepted the job last month but decided to remain with Kentucky through the Citrus Bowl.

Sumrall was a three-year letter winner at middle linebacker at Kentucky from 2002-04 and started his coaching career as a graduate assistant during the 2005 and 2006 seasons under head coach Rich Brooks.

Sumrall shared a heartfelt thank you to Big Blue Nation Sunday morning.

“I am grateful to have been at the University of Kentucky the last three years. I am forever indebted to Mark Stoops for providing me with the opportunity to return to my alma mater and coach. I would also like to thank Dr. Eli Capilouto and Mitch Barnhart for their leadership and support. To the coaching staff, support staff and players at UK, you are family – I love y’all and am going to miss doing life with you. Lastly, thank you to the BBN for the love you have shown me and my family. I will always be a Kentucky Wildcat.”
