Police think that someone or more people are hiding something about the death of Dawn Marino, who was 20 years old.
In 1981, Marino died. After 44 years, investigators are still looking for clues.
That’s what the public is being asked to do today, New York State Police Lt. Kurt Labuda said. “Please come forward and help bring peace to the Marino family.”
Over 40 years, Dawn Marino’s death has been looked into.
As they try to figure out how Marino died, police in New York State and Warwick are using information stops. It was May 16, 1981, and she was leaving a pub that used to be in a building. A friend saw her go.
“She went back outside to look for her, but she was gone,” Warwick Police Lt. Alton Morley said. “Last anyone saw her.”
At the time, it was said that Marino was looking forward to getting home to her boyfriend, who was watching her new puppy, Ziggy.
She was reported missing until 1987, when her bones were found by a hunter putting up a stand in the woods.
Investigators share new information in the hopes that more witnesses will come forward.
On Friday, state police brought reporters to the place where Marino’s body was found for the first time. They think this will help the case move forward.
Her body was found in a concrete well next to a house that had burned down many years before.
Investigators also found old papers that had pictures on them with a Pennsylvania Dutch theme. They think it’s unique enough to bring back memories and are asking anyone who knows anything to come forward.
“That stuff we gave you was found with her,” New York State Police Officer Ryan Leone said.
Recently, state police dug in the woods and found more evidence, which is why there is still crime scene tape there.
A message from one of Marino’s friends was also shown to the police.
“I feel good when I think about her. The sadness won’t go away because I cared about her so much. It seems like just yesterday, and I really miss Dawn.
