Kentucky senior guard Kellan Grady played through an injury during the entire 2021-22 season, one that progressively got worse at the end.

In a story with Kyle Tucker of The Athletic, Grady revealed that he suffered from plantar fasciitis in both feet. So painful that he was barely able to walk after games late in the season.

Grady led the Wildcats in minutes played, totaling 1,121 during the season, an average of 33 per game.

During a stretch of 10 games where Sahvir Wheeler and TyTy Washington missed time due to injury, Grady averaged 39 minutes a game.

While Grady preferred to play every minute possible because downtime meant his feet would get stiff and hurt more, that load without the other two guards was costly.

He connected on only 6 of his final 30 three-point attempts to close the season. He was 1-of-12 from three in Kentucky’s final two games, losses to Tennessee in the SEC Tournament and Saint Peter’s in the NCAA Tournament.

In the story, Grady admits that his body got worn down as the season carried on but he wasn’t going to use it as an excuse because he had pushed through it for so long.

Grady joined Kentucky Sports Radio Thursday to discuss the season and his plantar fasciitis injury. He never considered not playing this season.

“No,” Grady told KSR. “I did it at the utopia of college basketball and I wanted to be part of every game and play for this fanbase and play for my teammates.”

You can read the full story by Tucker at the link below, where Grady discusses the pain he played through and how he wanted to help the team.
