Kentucky’s “Easy” Path to Final Four is a Popular Topic for National Media

Upsets during the NCAA tournament is what makes March Madness so special but when they benefit Kentucky, the national media likes to paint a different picture.

When the brackets revealed Kentucky as a No. 5 seed in Boise with No. 4 Arizona, No. 3 Tennessee, No. 2 Cincinnati, and overall No. 1 Virginia in their path, everything was perfectly fine on the national scene. Four embarrassing upsets later, the South region is completely upside down and Kentucky has a clear path to their 18th Final Four appearance.

This hasn’t sat well with national media members, who continue to claim that Kentucky and John Calipari should feel bad about how easy their path to San Antonio is. ESPN’s Myron Medcalf was one of the first to say something about the wide-open South region.

Now, to no surprise, Pat Forde of Yahoo! Sports is the latest to share his thoughts, reaching so far to say that Kentucky’s path to the Final Four will be the easiest of any team in NCAA history not seeded No. 1.

The story is no longer about Tony Bennett and Sean Miller’s embarrassing losses. Instead, it’s about how “easy” Calipari’s path to the Final Four is, which is ridiculous. If Duke or any other team had Kentucky’s path, not a single word would be said about it.

If you want to take the time to read Forde’s column (don’t do it), you can do so here.
