Kentucky Offers Fast-Rising Target Jerquavion Mahone

One area that Kentucky desperately needs to add talent is along the defensive line, especially interior defensive linemen. Mark Stoops’ and staff are trying to sure up the defensive tackle position but they just recently parted ways with Tyler Bentley, who committed to Pittsburgh. That sent the UK staff in another direction that led them to Jerquavion Mahone.

Mahone, a 6-4, 299lb target for the class of 2018, is a two-way player for Manchester High School in Manchester, Georgia. He visited Kentucky on December 8th and the Wildcats extended a scholarship offer this morning. Along with Kentucky, Mahone holds offers from Tennessee and Jacksonville State.

Kentucky primarily needs help on the interior of the defensive line but it’s always nice to have players that can play two-ways, which is what makes Mahone so special.

Mahone played defensive end for Manchester, where he was named All-Region. The UK target totaled 72 tackles, 13 sacks and 30 tackles for loss. Additionally, he was named All-Region as an offensive lineman.

Mahone is a fast-rising target and could very well be a UK commit soon. Scouting report says he can play defensive end in a 3-4 but with the Wildcats considering a move back to the 4-3, that could slide him in at defensive tackle.
