The Kentucky Wildcats survived vs. UT Chattanooga at Kroger Field Saturday afternoon, escaping with a 28-23 win to improve to 3-0.

Kentucky trailed in the second half for the first time this season when Chattanooga took the lead on an Aaron Sears 30-yard field goal with 13:27 to play in the fourth quarter.

Kentucky’s offense, which looked lost for most of the game, pieced together a 7-play, 77-yard drive to regain the lead, 21-16.

Two key third-down plays set Kentucky’s offense up to score. Will Levis moved the chains with a 21-yard scramble on 3rd and 2. And three plays later, Chattanooga was called for pass interference while defending Wan’Dale Robinson.

Levis, who completed 23-of-35 passes for 246 yards on the day, fired a 31-yard touchdown strike to Izayah Cummings to give Kentucky the lead.

In the end, it was Kentucky’s defense that made the biggest play of the game. Chattanooga quarterback Cole Copeland’s pass was intercepted by Tyrell Aijain and returned 95-yards for a touchdown, the third-longest interception return for a touchdown in school history.

Next up for Kentucky is a road matchup at South Carolina. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET. with coverage on ESPN2.
