Watch: Video UK Posted Following Jacob Toppin’s Commitment

Jacob Toppin

Rhode Island transfer Jacob Toppin, the brother of former Dayton star Obi Toppin, committed to Kentucky Thursday.

Toppin, a 6-8, 190-pound forward, averaged 5.1 points and 3.9 rebounds in 30 games as a freshman, including five games in double figures.

Under current NCAA rules, Toppin will have to sit out the 2020-21 season. However, the NCAA Division I council will discuss implementing a one-time transfer waiver on April 24th and then a vote is expected to take place on May 20th, according to Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball. If that vote passes, Toppin would take the floor with Kentucky this fall.

Moments after Toppin committed, the UK men’s basketball Twitter account posted a video they always do following a commitment. The video is Kentucky highlights of Kevin Knox, a solid comparison for the 6-foot-8 transfer.
