Last week, Kentucky forward Jacob Toppin decided to return to Kentucky just before the deadline to commit to staying in the 2022 NBA Draft.

“What’s up Big Blue Nation?” Toppin said. “First off, I want to start by thanking God because without him, I wouldn’t be in this position I’m in today. I want to thank my coaching staff, my teammates, and everyone along this journey who has helped me. Most importantly I want to thank the best fans in the country, Big Blue Nation. Without you guys, I wouldn’t know where I’d be. With that being said, I miss you guys. Let’s run it back one more year. Go Big Blue.”

Toppin added, “I’m coming back with big goals in mind. “It’s time for NINE!”

As a junior, Toppin averaged 6.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists for the Wildcats off the bench. The 6-foot-9 forward also shot a career-best 55.6-percent from the field and 40-percent from three-point range.

Toppin, a three-year player in John Calipari’s system, will add more experience to the Wildcats’ 2022-23 roster. He should see an increased role as a senior.
