Lynn Bowden Named Manning Award Quarterback of the Week

Kentucky’s Lynn Bowden Jr. has been named the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week for his performance in the Wildcats 24-20 win vs. Arkansas in the seventh week of the season.

The do it all athlete from Youngstown, OH., started his first game at quarterback since his senior year of high school in 2016. All he did was turn in a performance Kentucky fans will never forget.

Bowden completed 7-of-11 pass attempts for 78 yards and touchdown to go along with 196 rushing yards and two touchdowns, including a game winning 24-yard touchdown run with 6:53 remaining.

Kentucky’s emergency option at quarterback turned out to be just what the Wildcats needed to end a three-game losing streak. The win improved Kentucky’s record to 3-3 on the season, positioning them to achieve a fourth straight bowl game with a strong finish to the season.

Bowden has garnered an impressive list of honors for his clutch performance vs. the Razorbacks. In addition to the Quarterback of the Week, he was named Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. The junior playmaker was also named a midseason All-American as an all-purpose player earlier this week. Bowden leads the SEC and ranks sixth nationally in all-purpose yards, averaging 149.33 per game.

The award came down to a battle of Bluegrass quarterbacks. Bowden edged Louisville quarterback Evan Conley, after a strong surge of voting from Big Blue Nation.
