LAS VEGAS – Police in Las Vegas say a babysitter has been arrested after fatally stabbing a kid in her care.
Las Vegas police said they responded to a reported stabbing at an apartment complex on the city’s east side early Wednesday.
According to authorities, the toddler’s father called them and said that his child had been stabbed by their babysitter.
The three-year-old daughter sustained multiple stab wounds. First responders took the toddler to the hospital. Nonetheless, she did not survive.
The babysitter, later identified as 44-year-old Marketta Phillips, fled the apartment, but authorities said they found her and arrested her.
According to Lieutenant Robert Price of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, authorities believe the babysitter in issue may have lived at the property, but the case is still being investigated, including a motivation.
Authorities did not immediately identify the families affected.
