Lawyers seek bail for asylum seeker arrested at Portland Immigration Court

Lawyers for a 24-year-old man from Mexico who was whisked to a Washington state detention center after

his arrest

in Portland Immigration Court are asking a judge to return him to Oregon and release him.

The lawyers contend

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement

“manipulated” the system “to achieve what the law plainly did not allow” – the man’s detention and an attempt to rapidly expel him without due process.
