Los Angeles Police Chase Ends in Fatal DUI Crash Near Lax, Leaving Passenger Dead and Others Hurt

Police are investigating a tragic automobile wreck near Los Angeles International Airport on Friday morning, after a drunk driver fled police and crashed, killing the passenger, according to officials.

Los Angeles police attempted to stop the vehicle for a suspected DUI around 1:30 a.m. near Hoover Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, next to BMO Stadium, but the driver raced away, according to Officer David Cuellar, a police spokesperson.

The motorist drove toward LAX and collided with another vehicle at Sepulveda and Century boulevards before fleeing the scene, according to Cuellar. Officers apprehended the driver and put him into arrest.

Police discovered an injured passenger in the vehicle after the incident.

Paramedics pronounced both dead on the scene. Cuellar reported that the driver of the hit vehicle was brought to the hospital in uncertain condition.
