Police identified a 40-year-old man as the suspect in a
double homicide
at a
Battle Ground home Tuesday morning
. The man was found critically injured at the scene and was taken to a local hospital, police said Wednesday evening.
The suspect, Evaristo “Junior” Vela, remains hospitalized, officials said. The extent of his injuries is not known.
Battle Ground officers responded to a call in the 2100 block of NE 2nd Avenue shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday, with the caller reporting “multiple people down inside a residence,” authorities said. Battle Ground Police Chief Dennis Flynn, in an interview with KGW, described the homicides as a “domestic incident.”
Two victims — a man and a woman, both in their late 30s — were found dead inside the home , along with the injured Vela, officials said.
The investigation of the homicides is ongoing.
