Missing Teen Witnessed Mother’s Murder by Father, Authorities Say

While searching for 18-year-old Serren Bennett, who sadly saw her father fatally murder her mother Jodie Betteridge outside their home in 2016, a body has been discovered.

The last sighting of 18-year-old Serren Bennet was of her strolling alone toward Redcar Beach.

Following police confirmation that a body has been discovered during the hunt for 18-year-old Serren Bennett, a teenager who saw her mother brutally murdered by her father as a youngster is believed dead.

Just minutes after killing his lover, Lynne Freeman, Serren’s father, Alan Bennett, stabbed her mother, Jodie Betteridge, 132 times outside their Redcar house in 2016.

Three youngsters screamed over their mother’s body in the garden after the horrifying double slaying. Eight years have passed since Serren vanished from Redcar Beach, and authorities suspect she may have passed away. On Thursday, July 10, a body was discovered in the sea close to Humberside.

Serren saw the horrific murder of her mother. Police say Serren’s next of kin has been notified and is receiving assistance from expert police, even though formal identification has not yet occurred. A Cleveland we spokesperson stated, “Unfortunately, on Thursday, July 10, police received a report that a body had been located in the sea in the Humberside area.”

Although official identification has not yet occurred, officers have notified Serren Bennett’s next of kin, who are receiving assistance from specialized officers. Our thoughts and prayers are with Serren’s family during this trying time.

Around 9 p.m., Serren was last seen strolling by herself in the direction of Redcar Beach. Police characterized her departure as “out of character” and noted that she had previously been classified as vulnerable. Her family disclosed, in a disturbing detail, that a cord from her late mother Jodie’s dressing robe was one of the things left on the beach where she was last seen.

Nicky Betteridge, Serren’s aunt and Jodie’s sister, told Teesside Live prior to the terrible police update: “She is a beautiful, vulnerable girl.” All I’m looking for is that gorgeous girl that has so much love to give and receive. Finding my young niece is all I want.”

On July 5, Serren would have turned 19. Early in life, she experienced tragedy. In a drunken and frantic attack on March 23, 2016, Alan Bennett fatally stabbed 46-year-old Lynne Freeman at her Redcar home. Shortly after, he strolled over to Jodie’s house, where she was with their kids.

Jodie, 30, was repeatedly stabbed in the wrists, legs, face, and torso; the last wounds showed that she had made a valiant effort to fend him off. In the garden, her kids were found yelling over her body.

Bennett, who was 34 at the time, entered a guilty plea to both killings and received a life sentence. At Teesside Crown Court, he was informed that he would not be eligible for parole until he had completed at least 32 years and 233 days of service.

Although the body discovered this week has not yet been officially identified, police claim they have halted their search for Serren. In the days ahead, formal identification and a post-mortem examination are anticipated.
