Crews testing the motors that lift the Morrison Bridge will require several extended lifts Monday and Tuesday nights, July 21-22.
Extended lifts are scheduled from 8 p.m. Monday through 4 a.m. Tuesday, and during the same hours Tuesday to early Wednesday.
Travelers who use the Morrison Bridge should plan ahead for delays during those hours or choose an alternate river crossing.
Multnomah County said in a recent release that the work is part of a project to add titanium rebar to the bridge to strengthen it and the ramps on the east side of the bridge. This project will eventually remove the weight restrictions that prevent heavy trucks from crossing. During this work, crews will also repair bearings and motors that lift and lower the span.

Chip seal work will cause lane closures, delays on 99W near Amity
The Oregon Department of Transportation warns of delays and lane closures on OR 99W between Rickreall and Amity beginning 7:30 a.m. Monday, July 21.
Travelers should expect daytime lane closures and delays as crews apply a chip seal to help preserve the road and extend its life.
Road work hours are 7:30 a.m.-noon Monday-Thursday, July 21-Aug. 1. The work is weather dependent and could be rescheduled.
Drivers should slow down and use caution in the work zone. Loose gravel will remain on the road until the fog seal is complete near the end of July. “Loose gravel” and “Do not pass” signs will stay up during that time.
Traffic will be escorted through the work zone during work hours by pilot car and flaggers will help direct drivers through intersections.
