Myrtle Beach, a renowned tourist destination in South Carolina, was the scene of a shooting that resulted in 11 people being hurt and one individual being fatally shot by police, according to the authorities.
An guy began discharging a weapon during a disturbance that occurred on Saturday night in Myrtle Beach, and cops arrived to the scene. The disturbance involved numerous people. The police agency issued a statement in which they stated that “based on the immediate threat,” an officer then shot one individual, who ultimately succumbed to their injuries and died.
Brenda Bethune, the mayor of Myrtle Beach, stated to WBTW-TV that the police responded in an appropriate manner. As reported by WBTW, the deputy coroner for Horry County concluded that the individual who was shot was identified as Jerrius Davis, who was 18 years old.
Tamara Willard, the Deputy Coroner for Horry County, stated that “our officer saw what happened,” and that “when he saw that an altercation was taking place and a gun was being shot, the officer responded very quickly and, in my opinion, saved lives.” The previous evening could have been a lot more disastrous.
Myrtle Beach police were notified of a telephone call that was left with them, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division responded to the message by sending an email stating that their investigation was active and proceeding. This did not provide any additional information.
Eleven individuals who had incurred injuries were reportedly undergoing medical treatment, according to the department.
