Sunshine State Quarterback Nik Scalzo Picks Kentucky

Kentucky Picks up a Commitment from Cardinal Gibbons QB Nik Scalzo

Kentucky football picked up a commitment from three star quarterback Nik Scalzo on Monday evening.

Scalzo, a 5-foot-11 dual-threat passer, announced the commitment to his Twitter account. A native of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.), Scalzo plays for Cardinal Gibbons High School. Kentucky extended an offer after he visited for junior day on February 24th.

“It was surreal,” Scalzo told Go Big Blue Country after his visit. “I was waiting for this offer for a while now and when I got it, I felt very relieved and accomplished.”

After the visit in February, Scalzo was back on campus for the annual blue/white spring game on Friday, April 13th. The visit was successful and Kentucky was on Yahtzee watch from that point.

Scalzo is small in stature but has the ability to make plays with his feet, which is what the UK staff fell in love with while watching him play. In addition to Kentucky, he held offers from Buffalo, Central Michigan, Florida Atlantic, Georgia State, Harvard, and Yale, among others.
