Police say the person who was pulled from Lake Michigan near 31st Street Beach on Monday has died.
Chicago firemen say that a full response was sent to 31st Street Beach just after 2 p.m. because someone was reported to be in the water.
5 helicopter flew over the beach as first responders pulled someone from the water.
The person was quickly taken to an ambulance, where paramedics were seen applying chest compressions to the victim.
The male victim was taken to a nearby hospital in serious condition, according to Chicago police. A source from the Chicago Fire Department said the victim was “unresponsive” when he was pulled from the water.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Monday night that the person had died at the University of Chicago Medical Center at 3:46 p.m., but they did not have any other information to share.
