One Group of SSA Beneficiaries to Miss Next Week’s Payment

One Group of SSA Beneficiaries to Miss Next Week’s Payment

The Social Security Administration (SSA) distributes millions of payments each month to around 70 million beneficiaries, many of whom depend on these payments as their only source of income to meet their monthly expenses.

The SSA follows a strict and prompt payment schedule to enable its beneficiaries to plan their budgets effectively. Next week, another round of payments will be distributed to recipients; however, one group will need to wait until August to receive theirs.

What is the schedule for the SSA to issue payments to beneficiaries?

The SSA adheres strictly to its established payment schedule, making exceptions only when the scheduled payment date coincides with a weekend or holiday. Payments are arranged based on your birthdate, the type of payment you receive, and the timing of your benefits claim.

Recipients of benefits from the SSA receive retirement benefits, Supplementary Security Income (SSI) for individuals with minimal income or resources, and Disability benefits for those unable to work.

The SSA adheres to a general payment schedule for beneficiaries as follows:

  • The second Wednesday of the month: Birth dates that fall between the first and the tenth of the month.
  • The third Wednesday of the month marks the birth dates that fall between the 11th and 20th of the month.
  • The fourth Wednesday of the month marks the birth dates that fall between the 21st and 31st of the month.

Nonetheless, these payment dates are not applicable to beneficiaries who receive only SSI income from the SSA. If you receive only SSI, your payment is issued on the first of each month.

If you are an SSI beneficiary receiving retirement benefits, your payment is issued on the third of the month, coinciding with those beneficiaries who claimed their benefits from the SSA prior to May 1997.

Who will be ineligible for their benefits next week?

Next week Wednesday, beneficiaries with a birthdate between the 11th and 20th of the month will receive their payments, as outlined in the Social Security payment schedule. SSI-only beneficiaries will need to wait until August 1 for the release of their next round of payments.

This aligns with the standard SSA schedule, as SSI-only beneficiaries received their payments on the first of this month.

Next month, the maximum payment beneficiaries can receive from the SSA for SSI is $967 for an individual, while couples can receive up to $1,450.

In contrast to retirement benefits, eligibility for SSI benefits relies on your income level and the value of your resources, along with additional factors like your household size. If your income situation changes, you might no longer qualify for SSI.

The SSA outlines the reduction of your SSI benefits in the following manner: For every $2 earned from work, benefits decrease by approximately $1. For each dollar earned from non-work sources, benefits decrease by one dollar.

Who is eligible for the highest retirement benefits?

Although SSI beneficiaries will not receive a new payment until next month, those who receive retirement payments next week may see an amount reaching up to $5,108.

The maximum payment you can claim from the SSA for your retirement this year is notable; however, the average retiree does not receive this amount, with the typical payment being around $2,000.

To claim the maximum retirement benefit from the SSA, you must meet several criteria. The most crucial factor is that you should wait until you are 70 years old to file your claim for benefits.

The SSA offers beneficiaries increased benefits if they decide to delay claiming beyond the minimum age of 62. However, once you reach 70 years old, you will no longer receive additional benefits from the SSA for postponing your claim.
