Oregon baseball drops in polls entering NCAA regional play

Before the NCAA Tournament, Oregon’s polls fell.

The Ducks (42-14) defeated Michigan State and lost to Nebraska in the Big Ten tournament, and they are ranked No. 5 by D1baseball.com, No. 6 by NCBWA, and No. 7 by coaches. Baseball America and Perfect Game did not release any new rankings prior to the NCAA Tournament, but they did put UO No. 13 and Oregon as the 10th seed in the 64-team tournament, respectively.

Last week, Perfect Game ranked them No. 2, D1baseball.com ranked them No. 4, the coaches ranked them No. 5, and Baseball America and NCBWA ranked them No. 6.

Oregon, the 12th seed in the NCAA Tournament, will play Utah Valley (28-27) in their first regional match on Friday at PK Park (6 p.m., ESPN+).

The two Eugene Regional teams, Arizona (39-18) and Cal Poly (41-17), will also play on Friday at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.

The winners from Friday will play at 6 p.m. The losers on Saturday and Friday play at 12 p.m. on Saturday. The final game is scheduled for Sunday at 3 and 7 p.m., with a game on Monday at a time to be decided if required.

With a 9-1 record in Quadrant 1 games, a 22-8 record in Quadrant 3, and an 8-4 record in Quadrant 4, the Ducks start the regional play at No. 16 in RPI.
