Oregon coast town hosts its first drone firework show (WATCH)

Though it wasn’t your typical fireworks exploding over the ocean, the skies above Siletz Bay, close to Lincoln City, came alive with vibrant colors and flashing lights this year.

In honor of the Fourth of July, Lincoln City, which bills itself as the “Kite Capital of the World,” hosted its first drone light show.

Using images and video from Explore Lincoln City, two hundred drones created formations in the sky in time with music. Sky Elements, which has created drone shows for teams like the Seattle Seahawks and Marvel, created the 15-minute spectacle.

Lincoln City’s emphasis on sustainability is reflected in the decision to use a drone display.

In Siletz Bay, the Wildlife Refuge, the Taft District, and the Salishan Spit, fireworks discharge plastic, firearms, heavy metals like as lead, copper, cadmium, titanium, and aluminum, as well as hazardous chemicals. According to Explore Lincoln City, these pollutants have an effect on soil, streams, wildlife, air quality, and human health.

Lincoln City likewise forbids the use of fireworks.
