Oregon-connected creators Ian Karmel and Irene Taylor earn 2025 Emmy nominations

The 77th Emmy Award nominees

were announced Tuesday morning, and while much of the news revolves around “The Studio” tying the record previously set by

“The Bear”

as it racked up 23 nominations in a single year in the comedy category, “Severance” leading the drama category with 27 nominations, plus assorted snubs and surprises,

once again

, some

Oregon-connected creators

emerged with nominations.

Portland-based filmmaker Irene Taylor’s

intimate portrait of singer Celine Dion’s struggle with stiff person syndrome,

“I Am: Celine Dion”

was nominated in the category of Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking.

Ian Karmel,

the formerly Portland-area based comedian and writer, was among the people nominated in the category of Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special, recognized for his work on the special, “Conan O’Brien: The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.”

In addition, Portland-based producer

Neil Kopp

was among the people included in the nomination for Netflix’s

“Rebel Ridge,”

which filmed on

location in Louisiana.

and earned a nod in in the Outstanding Television Movie Category.
