Oregon Ducks ‘knock the rust off’ to open 4th fall camp under Dan Lanning

Eugene The atmosphere and intensity of Oregon’s fourth fall camp under Dan Lanning changed.

Lanning insisted on speed on a roster that was primarily made up of rookies two years ago. A senior-heavy club was concentrating on execution last year.

Lanning claimed that while energy was not a problem on Wednesday, the closed helmet-only session at Autzen Stadium served more as a method to shake off the rust after three months away from official practices.

Regarding a team that has only added three scholarship players since the conclusion of spring, Lanning stated, “I do think that there’s a really clear understanding of what we’re trying to execute.” Men are capable of performing drills correctly. Much of that, I believe, has to do with getting ready so they’re ready for the moment when it arrives.

Of the 112 players on the Ducks’ initial roster, 11 are newcomers, including eight walk-ons. That would suggest that UO had at least seven designated student-athletes (DSA), who were given a roster slot to guard against cuts in order to reach the final 105 roster limit. These players would have been kicked off the roster when the House federal case was settled.

This summer, punter James Ferguson-Reynolds, offensive lineman Zac Stascausky, and outside linebacker Tobi Haastrup signed on and made their debut appearance on the Ducks’ field.

There were no notable absences from a bunch that gained a lot of weight last summer, save from receiver Evan Stewart, who is recovering in Miami from knee surgery.

The only other personnel changes were walk-on quarterback Ryder Hayes going from 19 to 13 and outside linebacker Blake Purchase going from 17 to 9. Since three players share the number, these changes could need to be made again.

According to Lanning, some players are still dividing their reps between several positions, even on his youngest squad to date.

According to Lanning, there are even some fresh men who can manage more. We will continually strive to find men who are capable of handling more. We’ll probably return to evaluate the film and see which additional guys we can work with in different locations.

As he gets ready to assume the starting role, quarterback Dante Moore is looking forward to the long days of practice and video analysis that lie ahead of him over the next four weeks.

An offense that lost the majority of its starters from the previous campaign is dealing with a number of issues.

Moore remarked, “I think this entire offense is talented, ready to compete, and many of us have chips on our shoulders.” Without a doubt, I’m quite hungry. I know I’m going to push the guys when I’m out there at practice.

Spider pads will make some contact in the upcoming days before the real hitting starts, at which point accurate assessments may be made.

This month, linebacker Bryce Boettcher stated that he wanted to see the defense’s level of physicality.

Although we are strong and quick, there are people in the weight room who don’t lift much and aren’t very quick, but they have excellent instincts and know how to play football, Boettcher said. It is impossible to teach instincts. I’m eager to find out who possesses those intuitions.
