Oregon Ducks the No. 12 seed in NCAA Baseball Tournament, open regional play against Utah Valley

Oregon is the No. 12 national seed in the NCAA Tournament.

The Ducks (42-14) will open regional play against WAC Champion Utah Valley (28-27) on Friday (6 p.m., ESPN+) at PK Park.

Big 12 Champion Arizona (39-18) and Big West Champion Cal Poly (41-17) are the other teams in the Eugene regional and will also play Friday (1 p.m., ESPN+).

Friday’s winners advance to play at 6 p.m. Saturday and Friday’s losers play at 12 p.m Saturday. Sunday’s games are at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. for the championship game, with Monday’s if-necessary game at a time to be determined.

“I do feel as though they’re in a great spot moving into this regional,” Oregon coach Mark Wasikowski said. “We had a little bit of a quirky setup down there at the Big Ten tournament, where bottom line is we didn’t play well enough to win that tournament and Nebraska did. … I do feel strong that the club that we had with the inexperience at the beginning of the year, they’ve gotten a lot of experience now and you see that on the field, you see that with settled nerves.”

Oregon is 29-32-1 all-time against the regional field, though nearly all but six of those games are against Arizona, which holds a 30-25-1 lead in the all-time series. Oregon is 3-2 all-time against Cal Poly, with all of those games played in San Luis Obispo in the 1960s and 1970s. UO defeated Utah Valley in Provo in their lone meeting on March 27, 2019.

The Eugene regional is paired with the Chapel Hill regional and No. 5 seed North Carolina, which hosts Oklahoma, Nebraska and Holy Cross. The winners of the two regionals will play in a best-of-three Super Regional starting June 5.

It’s the fourth time in 14 years Oregon is hosting an NCAA regional, with the last being in 2021. UO also hosted Super Regionals in 2012 and 2023

Oregon makes its program record fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance, all under Wasikowski.
