Probable starters:
OSU RHP LHP Ethan Kleinschmit (8-3, 3.70 ERA) vs. FSU LHP Jamie Arnold (8-2, 3.12)
This and that:
Kleinschmit is making his 16th start of the year and second in the postseason. He was dominant in the regional round, allowing two runs and striking out six over a career-high 7 2/3 innings in a win over Saint Mary’s. And Kleinschmit has been unbeatable at home, compiling a 5-0 record, 1.76 ERA and 36 strikeouts in in five starts and 30 2/3 innings at Goss. … Arnold is not only one of the best pitchers in college baseball, but also one of the most coveted prospects in the 2025 MLB draft. The 6-foot-1 junior has amassed 110 strikeouts and allowed just 26 walks in 78 innings this season, and owns 21 wins over 40 starts in his three-year career. … But Arnold will have his hands full with a hot lineup — Oregon State is hitting .342 with 32 extra-base hits, including 15 homers, in six postseason games. … OSU’s pitching staff, meanwhile, has amassed a 2.62 ERA, recorded 72 strikeouts and allowed 46 hits in six postseason games, during which opposing lineups are batting just .235. … Oregon State catcher Wilson Weber went 2 for 4 with two doubles and one RBI in Friday’s opener, and brings a seven-game hitting streak into Game 2. He has 11 RBIs, three homers and five doubles during the streak. … Dax Whitney, Nelson Keljo, AJ Hutcheson and Kellan Oakes combined to strike out 15 Florida State hitters on Friday. The Beavers need six more strikeouts to break the program record of 628, set in 2022. … Florida State pounded out 11 hits in the opener, as 10 different players finished with at least one. … Freshman Myles Bailey hit a solo home run and third baseman Cal Fisher and catcher Hunter Carns had two-hit efforts. … The Beavers are trying to qualify for the College World Series for the eighth time in school history.
