Oregon State’s Gavin Turley selected by Athletics in fourth round of MLB draft

Oregon State

has its second player off the board in the 2025 MLB draft.

Outfielder Gavin Turley was selected No. 110 overall in the fourth round by the Athletics on Monday.

Turley, fresh off a highly productive junior year in Corvallis, led the Beavers with 20 home runs on a career-high .351 hitting this past season — just .003 off team batting average leader Aiva Arquette, who was selected

No. 7 overall by the Miami Marlins

on Sunday.

Turley was a fan-favorite at OSU,

According to MLB.com’s scouting report, Turley is praised for his raw power and the physical tools at his disposal. The 6-1, 196-pound outfielder out of Chandler, Arizona, led OSU in RBI with 69 in 2024.

“He can drive the ball for extra bases anywhere with prodigious home run pop thanks to outstanding bat speed, and he was showing more ability to hit the ball out the other way this spring,” MLB.com’s scouting report reads. “There has long been the question about whether he’ll hit enough to get to that power.”

Turley was a first team All-American according to the American Baseball Coaches’ Association and College Baseball Foundation, and second team according to D1Baseball.com, Baseball America, and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers’ Association.

The 2025 MLB draft continues with rounds 4-20 on Monday.
