After 42 years in the media, Therese Bottomly, editor of The Oregonian/OregonLive and a regular host of Beat Check with The Oregonian, will retire next month.
In this Beat Check episode, Bottomly considers Oregon and the tales that influenced her profession. She talked to the news organization’s senior editor, Elliot Njus.
Bottomly talks on the newsroom’s ability to handle major stories during the epidemic, her personal apology in 2022 for the newspaper’s past support of prejudice and xenophobia, and her aspirations for local journalism’s future.
Beat Check with The Oregonian can be found on YouTube, Spotify, Apple, and other podcast platforms. Every week, the writers at The Oregonian/OregonLive will give you an inside look at the most important news stories in Oregon.
