We are an hour away from tip-off in the Bahamas, where Kentucky will play the first of four exhibition games this week.

Up first for the Wildcats is the Dominican Select Team with tip-off set for 7 p.m. ET. on the SEC Network.

Kentucky coach John Calipari won’t be on the sidelines coaching his team this week. Instead, he will be watching and evaluating from a distance, while his assistant coaches handle the coaching.

“As we get ready for tonight, I am so excited for our players. I wish every team had a chance to do this. Our kids always look forward to it. We open with the Dominican Select Team of older players, not the Under-22 team, because we wanted great competition out of the gate,” Calipari tweeted Wednesday.

Orlando Antigua will the acting head coach for the opening game in the Bahamas, UK announced in a release to the media Wednesday afternoon.

“As you’re aware, I won’t coach and Bruiser and I will be evaluating the team from a distance,” Calipari added. “We all understand how important this program is to the athletic department, the state, and the university – as it always has been! We can’t wait to represent you tonight, Kentucky!”
