The honors continue to roll in for Oscar Tshiebwe, who was named the AP National Player of the Year Friday for the 2021-22 season.
The 6-foot-9, 255-pound junior is the second Kentucky player to win the award in the storied program’s history. Anthony Davis was the first in 2012.
Tshiebwe received 46 of the 60 possible votes for the award that was announced Friday.
Johnny Davis of Wisconsin was second with 10 votes. Iowa’s Keegan Murray (3) and Illinois’ Kofi Cockburn (1) received the remainder of the votes.
Tshiebwe averaged 17.4 points and 15.1 rebounds for the Wildcats this season.
