Penny Hardaway wants Memphis to play Kentucky this season

Penny Hardaway

Penny Hardaway wants to play Kentucky and the Memphis coach made it known that with COVID presenting a challenge with college basketball schedules, he wants John Calipari’s Wildcats to be a possible opponent.

“I would love to do that, honestly,” Hardaway said on his radio show, per the Commercial Appeal. “I don’t know if (Kentucky coach John Calipari) would. (Memphis director of basketball operations) Rodney (Hamilton) and I will get together and call down there to Lexington to see how that works.”

So, would Kentucky play Memphis if the opportunity is there?

Calipari said last week that Kentucky will play Gonzaga if a team cancels and Mark Few’s club has an open spot on their schedule. The UK coach also mentioned Tom Izzo and Michigan State as a possible opponent if a COVID cancellation occurs during league play.
