Kentucky sophomore forward PJ Washington has been named Co-SEC Player of the Week after leading the Wildcats to two key road victories.

In two victories vs. Vanderbilt and Florida, Washington averaged 20.5 points, 12 rebounds, and two assists.

Washington started the week with 26 points, 12 rebounds, and a career high tying three steals in the Wildcats 87-52 beatdown at Vanderbilt. He had 18 points and eight rebounds at halftime. It was his third straight 20-point game and second straight 20-10 game.

In Saturday’s win at Florida, it was Washington that changed the game after huddling his teammates together when they were trailing by 11 points in the second half. He finished with another double-double in the 65-54 comeback victory, totaling 15 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

It’s the fourth week in a row a Kentucky player has won an SEC weekly honor but Washington is the first UK player this season to win SEC Player of the Week. Kentucky has won more weekly SEC honors (97) than any other school during the John Calipari era, including 78 SEC Freshman of the Week honors and 19 SEC Player of the Week awards.
