Is it time for Kentucky to welcome back former coach Tubby Smith to raise a banner with his name on it to the rafters of Rupp Arena?
Tubby’s career at Kentucky came to a close in 2007 after ten winning seasons in Lexington. The most notable moment of Tubby’s career at Kentucky was the 1998 NCAA championship win vs. Utah, his first season in Lexington.
Mark Story of the Lexington Herald-Leader laid out the criteria to be considered for a jersey retirement at UK.
As I understand it, criteria for jersey retirement is 1.) must be in UK Athletics Hall of Fame to be considered; 2.) are not eligible for jersey retirement until 10 years after you've departed UK. Tubby left Kentucky in 2007 and was enshrined in the UK Athletics H of F in 2013 https://t.co/Gf2HrYb0h6
