Police Identify Manitou Springs Suspect Who Was Shot After Stabbing Victim in Neck

The Manitou Springs Police Department (MSPD) said one man was detained following a stabbing and shooting on Tuesday night.

At 7 p.m., El Paso County Dispatch received a call reporting a stabbing, and Manitou Springs officers and EMTs arrived.

According to police, two people were rushed to the hospital, one with stab wounds in the neck and the other with gunshot wounds to the stomach and chest.

According to police, both are in stable condition.

Investigators found that the suspect went to the victim’s house and stabbed him in the neck in the driveway.

According to authorities, the stabbing victim shot the suspect twice before calling 911.

After being recognized as the aggressor, police said the man was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault.

Police identified Wyatt Pearson, 22, as the suspect. Pearson was hospitalized as of Wednesday morning and was scheduled to be taken into jail upon his discharge.

According to officials, the shooter is not currently facing any charges.

The cause of the incident is still being investigated, but authorities suspect it was prompted by a marital or relationship issue.
