In what it refers to as a series of hate crimes, the Los Angeles Police Department made an appeal to the general public on Monday for aid in locating three males who are accused of attacking a transgender lady who was 61 years old at her place of business in the Westlake neighborhood.
Following reports of a suspect entering the victim’s store on April 8, flirting with her, and later punching her to the ground after she rejected his advances, detectives from the Rampart Division Robbery Section have stated that they believe there may be additional victims. For this reason, they have released surveillance photos of the suspects in an effort to encourage those individuals to come forward.
The culprit allegedly sexually attacked the victim after he later learned that she was a transgender woman. After that, he allegedly “pulled away” and threatened to murder her.
A number of hate crimes were committed against the victim, including one of the suspects hitting the victim with a skateboard, using pepper spray, and throwing an unknown liquid substance at the victim while another suspect attempted to stun her with a Taser. The police stated that the same suspect had returned to the location multiple times with additional suspects and committed these hate crimes against the victim.
Detectives from the Rampart Division Robbery Unit were requesting that anyone who has any new information on the offenses contact them at the number 213-484-3495. Please dial 877-527-3247 if you need to reach someone outside of normal business hours or on the weekends. Calling Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visiting their website, lacrimestoppers.org, is an option for individuals who wish to retain their anonymity.
