Police seek doorbell, security-camera footage in North Portland homicide

In order to assist detectives in identifying a suspect, the Police Bureau is requesting that neighbors of the scene of a recent fatal shooting in North Portland provide security and doorbell camera footage.

Police suspect that footage from doorbells and private security cameras may have documented the events leading up to and following Sunday’s shooting. The Portsmouth neighborhood’s New Columbia section is the detectives’ main focus. This encompasses North Chautauqua Boulevard, North Portsmouth Avenue, and North Columbia Boulevard to Houghton Street.

On the day of the incident, July 20, between 10:30 and 11:15 a.m., locals are being asked by the police to upload all of the video that was saved on their computers.

A website has been established by the Police Bureau that allows users to submit videos straight to the Detective Division.

Just after 11 a.m. on Sunday, police arrived at the shooting scene in the 9300 block of North Newman Avenue, close to McCoy Park. According to authorities, they discovered 21-year-old Jalen Hudson wounded by a gunshot. At the scene, Hudson passed away.

Detectives Ryan Foote (atryan.foote@police.portlandoregon.gov) and Matt Brown (atmatthew.brown@police.portlandoregon.gov) are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to get in touch with them and mention case number 25-193861.
