Polite Black Bear Rings Doorbell, Surprises New Hampshire Homeowners Before Hot Tub Dip

In cute security footage that the homeowners provided, an inquisitive black bear strolled straight up to a house in New Hampshire, rang the doorbell, and then wandered over to investigate an adjacent hot pool.

Before sticking its nose at the Ring doorbell and sniffing it approvingly, the bear surveyed the patio in the yard.

As if anticipating a response from the residents, the cub then got to its hind legs and pushed its clawed paw against the doorbell while looking through the adjoining window.

When the doorbell rang, the bear stumbled backwards, eyed it for a second, then turned around to investigate the remainder of the patio.

When it saw the hot tub, it straightened up once more and positioned its paws directly on the cover, using its muzzle to poke it.

The bear appeared to give up and moved farther into the large yard when the cover remained in place.

Jay Lievens, a local, posted on Facebook, “At least he was courteous enough to ring the doorbell to see if we were home.”

The state’s Fish and Game Department estimates that there are about 5,000 black bears in New Hampshire, making them incredibly prevalent there.

According to the department, they are generally peaceful animals, and since 1784, no one has been killed by one in New Hampshire. Naturally, people are still cautioned to avoid them because they are still dangerous predators with razor-sharp fangs.

Similar home surveillance footage from April showed a playful bear riding down a slide and visiting a child’s playground in Connecticut.

One man in North Carolina used a homemade bear suit to frighten away a bear that was prowling around his front yard.

While his friends were searching in a nearby dumpster, a bear cub in New Jersey climbed up a second-story balcony after a resident unintentionally let their dog outside. The cub scurried back down to the ground in record time before scuttling off into the woods as the fierce guardian of the house raced forward and began to bark at it.
