Popular folk rock band’s singer abruptly walks off stage in the middle of an Oregon show

Fans were puzzled after

Marcus Mumford

suddenly walked off stage during a performance in central Oregon last week.

The

Mumford & Sons

frontman stopped singing mid-song during the band’s concert at the

Hayden Homes Amphitheater

in Bend on June 5.

Mumford said what sounded like “Sorry, (expletive) them” before walking off stage,

A

TikTok

captured the incident, in which it appears that something in the crowd caught Mumford’s eye.

A post on Reddit

says it happened during the song “Ghosts” and Mumford came back out a little later without saying anything about why he left the stage.

Some Reddit users said that multiple people fainted or passed out and Mumford was upset that the venue staff was not responding quickly enough.

“About 3 people passed out in a row. In the same song. So he stopped so they could get help,” one TikTok user commented.

“Poor Marcus. His first big show back and adults are trying to ruin it for him and his band. People need to stop going to show and drink a lot,” another user said.

One comment accused the venue of being “cursed,” adding that people get unwell from “lining up for the show the night before and not eating/drinking all day.”

A Reddit user said, “He was pretty peeved at us being dumb Americans,” and he “made a joke about how Oregon basically invented the water bottle.”

Mumford & Sons is a Grammy-winning British folk rock band that formed in London in 2007. The band is best known for the hits “I Will Wait” and “Believe.”

Mumford & Sons is currently on its 2025 North American tour. The band has only one more date scheduled for Oregon or Washington; they will be at

The Gorge Amphitheatre

in George, Washington, on the Columbia River on

July 18
