Popular Mexican bakery, a farmers market favorite, is moving into the Portland suburbs this month

A Portland bakery whose Mexican pastries and fresh-baked bread can be found at restaurants and farmers markets across the city is expanding into the suburbs.

Dos Hermanos Bakery

made its first leap in 2023 when it moved out of its original building in North Portland and

into a 7,500-square-foot facility

on Southeast Stark Street.

The brother-owned bakery’s next step isn’t another move — but a second location that will open in a recognizable Beaverton storefront. Axios

first reported

the news in May.

Dos Hermanos

announced on May 21

its plans to launch a new cafe at 12400 S.W. Broadway St. later this month. The bakery is aiming to open to the public by the week of June 16, a spokesperson confirmed in an email. It will be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

The corner storefront previously housed Pip’s Original Doughnuts, which

moved into the building

in July 2023 but

closed its Beaverton location

last December.

Already, the Beaverton building has begun its rebrand — swapping the former bright yellow paint for a softer blue and “Dos Hermanos Bakery” lettering.

Yucatán-born brothers Gabriel and Josue Azcorra started Dos Hermanos in 2018, tucked into a 1,000-square-foot space in North Portland. Now, they’ve worked with big-name clients like Trader Joe’s and Costco and attract lines at farmers markets across the Portland-area.

The bakery is best known for its variety of homemade bread — everything from ciabatta and sourdough to brioche and sesame-covered burger buns — as well as its diverse pastry menu. Standard bakery fare like scones and danishes join Mexican staples like conchas (sweet bread) and hojaldres (filled fried dough).

There’s also Dos Hermanos’ chopped sandwiches, which the brothers promised in an Instagram comment would make the Beaverton menu.
