The Kentucky Wildcats hit the road for the first time this season with a Saturday night matchup in Columbia, South Carolina.
Mark Stoops’ team is 3-0, looking to improve to 4-0 for the first time since the 2018 season when the Wildcats raced out to a 5-0 start.
Kentucky, winners of two of the last three in Columbia and six of the last seven overall in the series, enters Saturday’s showdown with South Carolina as a 5-point favorite.
Prediction: Kentucky 37, South Carolina 27
MVP: Will Levis
Kentucky is 3-0 but they haven’t pieced together their best football for an entire game. Some are still skeptical about Kentucky and how good they are after needing a fourth-quarter comeback to defeat FCS Chattanooga at home last week. I believe the close call was what this team needed to not get caught looking ahead to an October stretch that includes dates with Florida, LSU, and Georgia in consecutive weeks.
The matchup to watch in this one is Kentucky’s offensive line vs. the South Carolina front seven. That said, Will Levis is my MVP. The UK quarterback said earlier this week that Kentucky is “so close” to being a good team. I think he connects on big throws he missed a week ago and Kentucky leaves Columbia 4-0 (2-0 SEC), setting up an electric atmosphere at Kroger Field vs. Florida next week.
