Roman Harper calls Kentucky soft, says Florida will win Saturday

Week 2 of college football produces the first Top 20 matchup in the Southeastern Conference for the 2022 season.

No. 12 Florida vs. No. 20 Kentucky in an SEC showdown in the Swamp Saturday night on ESPN will be a huge opportunity for both SEC Eastern division teams.

The Wildcats enter the SEC East battle as the underdog after Florida knocked off No. 7 Utah in the season opener.

Roman Harper of the SEC Network is all in on Florida winning Saturday night. He had the following to say Tuesday on The Paul Finebaum Show.

“Going into the season everybody had Kentucky above Florida. I probably did too, but after one game I’m completely off of that. I’m completely off of that.

“Florida is going to win this game, and I think they’re going to win it pretty handily too. It’s going to look dominant. I’m not trending toward a blowout, but it is in The Swamp and they do play better, they do play differently.”

Finebaum knows Harper gave Mark Stoops and Kentucky the bulletin board material they need going to Gainesville.

“Use me as ammo. I’m the ammo guy. If you need it, I’m feeding you right now, Kentucky Wildcats,” Harper said. “But if you want to win this game, you got to stop Florida up front. Kentucky looked a little bit softer, I hate using the word softer, but they were not as physical up front running the football. You can’t run for 50 yards.

“Tell Coach Stoops I said it to motivate them. ‘Coach, y’all did not push anybody around. You were a little soft up front last week. That is not what I’m used to seeing out of a Kentucky offensive line. Also, they lost some production on the defensive side of the ball, so I anticipate Florida really dominating the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. With the run game of Florida, the running backs to the quarterback and also defensive line.”
