John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats could have their backcourt locked up very soon for the 2021-22 season.

A source told Go Big Blue Country Monday that things are heating up between Kentucky and Georgia transfer point guard Sahvir Wheeler.

At the Iverson Classic on Saturday, a source said Kansas was the leader for Wheeler, but after speaking with a source closer to the recruitment, the word is Kentucky is leading the charge to land the SEC transfer. In addition to Kentucky and Kansas, Wheeler is considering LSU and Oklahoma State.

Wheeler, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound guard, was a second-team All-SEC performer in 2020-21, leading the SEC in assists with 7.4 per game. The Georgia guard totaled 7 double-doubles last season, including the first triple-double in program history in a win vs. LSU.

Kentucky is also the trending favorite to land 2021 five-star guard TyTy Washington, who will announce his commitment Saturday.
